In the course of writing this book, they supplemented their knowledge by interviewing more than a hundred experts in all aspects of publishing — including heads of publishing houses, professional writers, agents, librarians, bookstore owners, distributors and salespeople. Subsequently, Appelbaum became Managing Editor of Publishers Weekly, the magazine of the book publishing in-dustry; while Evans, who is at work on new book proposals, began her book-review column in Glamour and continued to write for a variety of leading magazines.
