But companionable chats take a back seat to sleuthing when club president Catherine Freeman is shot point-blank in her own driveway. The local police are convinced her husband, the controversial head of the Federal Reserve, was the true target. Louise, however, is not so sure... As Louise and Emily begin their own investigation, they unearth a garden variety of suspects. It seems the iron-fisted Catherine had intimidated and infuriated a great many enemies, including a plant nursery owner whose livelihood was threatened by Catherine's "hobby"; an ultra-competitive fellow member of the garden club, and an old flame of the victim's husband. As Bethesda buzzes with talk of the murder, Louise is all too aware that someone out there still has a gun, and has already proven they're ready to use it...
