This beautiful hardbound book, written in Russian, is easy to read with the Google Translate app. It has better paper than most Soviet publications of the era. It was published in 1954, and covers both men’s and women’s championships during that time, including world championship matches, interzonals, candidates tournaments and other significant tournaments of that era. It has 121 deeply annotated games, plus much textual commentary. It is bound in what I would call leatherette but might possibly be leather. It contains 424 pages. I paid $42 for this book over 30 years ago, worth almost $88 today. I could only find one copy for sale for $57.44 at a non eBay auction site as of mid March 2025.
