Seller Description
This extremely rare tournament book of the chess tournament in Mar del Plata in 1942 was won by Miguel Najdorf in front of Pilnik, Stahlberg and many other strong chess masters. I could only find one other copy for sale on a book search engine, at $50. I paid $38 for this over 30 years ago, about $84 today. The book has slightly soiled covers as shown in the photos and a 20 x 18 x 28 mm triangular chip off the left upper rear cover, also shown in the photos. The book has a tight binding and no internal writing apart from the LN catalog notation of 5632 on the inside front cover in pencil. It has 65 pages. Pages are single-sided with a typewriter style font which is why the book is thick for something with only 65 pages. It has a detailed opening index and an introduction. It is stamped (copy) number 116 out of perhaps 300 copies (?) overall on the front free endpaper. It is in Spanish descriptive notation but the little text there is can be easily read with the Google translate app.
