John Van Diest is an American writer and editor. He has written and edited for numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. He is the author of several books, including the novel The Last American Hero and the non-fiction work The American Dream: How We Got Here and What We Can Do to Keep It.
