There are some of us determined to engross their lives with an intoxicating sense of optimism and beauty that seems to go against all of the horrid, unconventional and cringey aspects that make up humanity. We should admire them but books don’t have that capability, so they tell the truth. And sometimes those wretched truths can one make homesick for another world.
