This paperback edition of Silent Spring was published in 1964, two years after it was originally released. It is an environmental warning concerning the use of pesticides, especially DDT, and herbicides, and also the radiation from atomic bomb use and testing. She warns that some day our spring will be silent because there will be no birds left to sing. It is even more relevant today because the pollution is so much worse now.
