It might be saying something that my favorite character is the animal that almost has no lines in the book, but even so the rest of the cast isn't too bad. I have to admit, I had a hard time starting this book but once I got about half way, I devoured it and completed the entire series. The unloved daughter of the overly controlling and cold Emporer begins to peel back the secrets she and the entire empire have been told. And there's magic!
