ABOUT THIS BOOK Caldecon Activities offers ready to -use student materials to accompany each Caldecott book. The activities consist of vocabulary exercises, high level thinking questions to stimulate criticall thinking. and suggested art projects for creative expression The vocabulary exercises consist of five to six vocabulary words, written in context, so the student will know how the word is beingsed in the book. The student proceeds to use the dictionary to obtain the correct meaning of the word. The correct meaning of the word is then written in a sentence. Questions of a high level of thinking are asked in an exercise to give the student an opportunity to gather meaning from the text. Students must learn to compare, evaluate, analyze, and create. Art activities that utilize different media such as charcoal, colored chalk, construction paper, tissue paper, brayer, styrofoam, India ink, watercolors, and water soluable pain are suggested for each book.
