Gupta addresses her mother throughout the book weaving a deeply vulnerable personal narrative with history, post colonial theory, and research on mental health. It focuses on how traditional notions of success and on how we should strive for compassion over belonging. As a grieving person (lost mama recently) I cannot wait to read this
