The first title that Theodore Suess Geisle published under the nom-de-plume that would become eminent in the world of children's literature and beyond, Dr. Suess. Originally conceived of on a ship in 1936, the book was first published (after a series of perhaps twenty or more rejections) in 1937 by Vanguard Press. This Book Club edition was reprinted by the same press in 1964 and distributed by Grolier Enterprises. The title was pulled from publication by the Suess estate in 2021 due to images in the book that were deemed hurtful and wrong. Fine/Near Fine condition
