I have always maintained an altar in my home. Some have been small and simple, others larger and more elaborate. A place to meditate, think, or pray. Denise Linn has created a beautiful reference guide here. There is the history of altars, the different cultures and religions that employ them and the reasons for doing so. When I was very young my pathway to an altar was a simple prayer jar where I wrote down a persons name or a situation that needed my prayers. I still do my prayer jar, most evenings. Putting and altar together usually evolves over time, as you grow and change so does your offering site, your altar. A place to light that single simple candle and reflect.
