Poor condition but readable copy. A bestseller on publication in 1949, "A Rage to Live", is a good read with strong characterization. John Henry O'Hara (1905-1970) was an American writer who earned his early literary reputation for short stories and became a best-selling novelist before the age of 30 with Appointment in Samarra, and Butterfield 8. The book was the basis for the 1965 MGM movie of the same name. Hard cover has black embossed cloth boards with title in gold and author & publisher in red on spine and front, now worn off. No dust jacket. Top page-edge tinted red, now faded. Interior has loose binding, some staining and wear but is unmarked. Both gutters torn. Shows heavy wear or use.
