Seller Description
Lot of 9 Paperback Novels by best-selling author Helen MacInnes. Helen married in 1932 to a man who worked for MI6 while teaching at Oxford. Her inspiration on writing espionage thrillers was her honeymoon in Europe. While traveling, she and her husband witnessed first hand the oppression of the German totalitarian regime, and Helen swore to write against the oppressive forces of the Nazi government. She kept notes during their travels in Europe. These notes and her husband's work in British Intelligence had a heavy influence on her stories. Helen MacInnes wrote 21 spy novels, many of the early books set during WWII. Four of her works were made into movies. Titles include: Assignment in Brittany (1942) Horizon (1945) Friends and Lovers (1947) Pray for a Brave Heart (1955) The Venetian Affair (1963) The Double Image (1966) Message From Malaga (1971) The Snare of the Hunter (1974) Prelude to Terror (1978) Books are 25+ years old and readable but not in good condition. Books have tears, age-related yellowing, folds, water stains and other flaws. Two books have covers that have come off the book and taped back together. Spines are loose, one book has a loose page and another book has no back cover at all.
