Vikram Seth is an Indian novelist, poet, travel writer, librettist, children's writer, biographer and memoirist. He is best known for his novel A Suitable Boy (1993), which won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best Book. His other works include The Golden Gate (1986), a novel in verse, and An Equal Music (1999), a novel set in the world of classical music.
