Robert V. Remini (1921–2013) was an American historian and a professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He was renowned for his expertise on Andrew Jackson and Jacksonian America, as well as his work on the history of the United States Congress. Remini wrote a comprehensive three-volume biography on Andrew Jackson, which garnered widespread praise for its depth of research and readability. His work on Jackson won the National Book Award in 1984. In addition to his biography on Jackson, Remini published numerous other books on American political and legislative history. His scholarship was characterized by a narrative style that made complex historical events and figures accessible to both students and general readers. Beyond his writing, Remini also served as the official historian of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 to 2010, reflecting his dedication to the study and communication of American political history.
