Richard Wright

Richard Wright (1908–1960) was an African-American author of powerful, sometimes controversial novels, short stories and non-fiction. He is best known for his 1940 novel Native Son, which tells the story of Bigger Thomas, a black youth living in utter poverty in a racist society. Wright also wrote the acclaimed autobiographical works Black Boy (1945) and American Hunger (1977).
