Rebecca Yarros is an American author who began writing while her husband was deployed overseas. Her first novel, Full Measures, was published in 2014 by Entangled Publishing as book one of her Flight & Glory series, and it was nominated for the GoodReads Choice Award for a debut GoodReads author. However, she is best known for her Empyrean series, which begins with the 2023 viral sensation, Fourth Wing. This military fantasy romance was a smash bestseller, with its limited sprayed edges special editions sending the reading community into a frenzy. In November 2023, Fourth Wing's sequel, Iron Flame, was released to similar fervor, with one PangoBooks reviewer calling it "Everything we hoped it would be!".

Fourth Wing was named as one of Booklist's top 10 science fiction/fantasy and horror books of 2023. In October 2023, Amazon announced that it will be adapting the five-book series into a television show, with Yarros as a non-writing producer.
