Michael McDowell was an American novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. He is best known for writing the screenplay for the cult film The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as for his horror novels, which often featured supernatural elements. He also wrote several plays, and several episodes of the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
