Jane Hamilton is an American author known for her novels about middle-class American life. Her works often explore themes of family, relationships, and mortality. She is best known for her 1989 novel The Book of Ruth, which won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. Hamilton's other works include A Map of the World (1994) and The Excellent Lombards (2013).
