Irene Nemirovsky (1903-1942) was a Russian-born French novelist and journalist whose works are renowned for their psychological insight and their acute observation of the human condition. She wrote two novels, David Golder (1929) and Suite Française (1942), before her death in Auschwitz. Her posthumously published works include The Wine of Solitude (1935) and Fire in the Blood (1937).
