Gil Kane was a Latvian-American comic book artist born on April 6, 1926. He is best known for his work on superhero comics such as DC Comics' "Green Lantern" and Marvel Comics' "The Amazing Spider-Man". Kane played a vital role in the Silver Age of Comic Books, contributing to the visual design of the modern incarnated Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and co-creating the modern version of the Atom (Ray Palmer). His style was known for its dynamic action, fluidity, and an emphasis on anatomical correctness in character depiction. He also co-created the villainous Iron Fist for Marvel. Beyond his significant contributions as a penciller, Kane also worked on projects as a writer and editor, leaving a lasting legacy in the comic book industry before his passing on January 31, 2000.
