Gaston Bachelard (1884-1962) was a French philosopher and literary theorist best known for his works on the philosophy of science and the philosophy of imagination. He is considered one of the most influential figures in 20th century French philosophy. His works explore the dynamics of imagination and creativity, examining the role of the unconscious in poetic and scientific thought. He also wrote extensively on the phenomenology of space and the nature of dreams.
