Frances de Pontes Peebles is a Brazilian novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter. She is best known for her novel The Seamstress, which was a finalist for the 2008 PEN/Faulkner Award and won the 2009 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. Her work has been translated into several languages and has appeared in publications such as Granta, The New Yorker, and The Paris Review.
