Dmitry Glukhovsky

Dmitry Glukhovsky is a Russian author, journalist, and playwright born on June 12, 1979, in Moscow. He is best known for his science fiction and dystopian novels, the most famous of which is "Metro 2033." The book, initially published in 2002 online for free, gained a significant following and was later printed in 2005, becoming the cornerstone of a multimedia franchise including sequels, video game adaptations, and a planned film. Glukhovsky's work is characterized by richly developed universes, complex characters, and social and philosophical commentary, often set against post-apocalyptic scenarios or speculative futures. Alongside "Metro 2033," he has written sequels like "Metro 2034" and "Metro 2035," as well as other books such as "Futu.re" and "Text." Before making a name for himself as an author, Glukhovsky started as a journalist, working domestically and as a foreign correspondent. His firsthand experiences with different cultures and political systems have informed much of his writing, providing a realistic backdrop to his speculative fiction. Despite being best known for fiction, Glukhovsky also engages in cultural and political debate, reflecting his interest in current affairs.
