Deborah G. Plant is a literary scholar, poet, and author who is known for her work on African American literature and culture. She is a professor of English at the University of South Florida, where she has taught since 1991. Plant's books include Zora Neale Hurston and American Literary Culture, The Faces of Eve: Women in the Nineteenth Century American South, and Black Women Writers and the American Neo-Slave Narrative. She has also published poetry and essays in various journals and anthologies.
